A large, picturesque village four miles to the southwest of Carlisle, situated on the banks of the River
Caldew.

Considered a very desirable place to live, with a population of around 2800, the village has plenty of
amenities including a small supermarket, GP surgery, dentist, pharmacy and two public houses.
There is also a primary and secondary school plus a village square with independent retailers.

Community events are plentiful, including a community cinema and an annual Agricultural Show.
Transport links into the city and further afield are good, with the Carlisle Southern Link Road due to be completed late 2025 providing easy access to the M6. There is also a train station proving links to
the city and to West Cumbria.
